Well the years, months, and weeks have finally whittled down to a matter of days. On March 26th we will be leaving Portland Oregon for Paris France. It's been both our dream to see this city and experience everything it has to offer. We will be staying in the Rue Cler neighborhood in Paris. The neighborhood is known for being a modern but quaint Parisian neighborhood with street side markets closed to everything but foot traffic.
From Paris we drive down through Provence to the city of Arles. Would you believe that southern France has the most complete Roman ruins! It is also a great region for wine. We have booked a repatriated Dutchman named Mike Rijken to take us on a wine adventure around the area.
After Arles, we drive through the French Riviera to Italy. Our first night in Italy will be spent in Asti, a small town in the North West corner of the country. From Asti we drive to Florence through the now well known Tuscan countryside.
In Florence we are staying in the old part of the city that's with in walking distance to most of the attractions. Again we're looking forward just to take in everything and really get a feel for what's around us. From Florence we take a train down into Rome. I don't think you could pay me to drive into that city. Pictures, stories, and chaotic U-Tube videos were enough to keep us from doing such a thing.
After Rome we head back up the west coast of Italy to the beach resort town of Levanto Italy. This area is influenced by the major port city of Genova. It will be interesting to see how the food changes over these regions that we will be visiting.
Our last leg takes us back into France to the city of Dijon. We will just do a quick tour here then it's back to Paris to catch our flight back to Portland Oregon. What an adventure!!! We both hope that everyone enjoys following us on this trip.
Siamo lieti di poter condividere questa!!
